North Carolina Medication Assisted Treatment

Helping Patients Recover from Opioid Dependence

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services provide care for individuals dealing with opioid dependence by addressing both the physical and emotional/psychological addictions. Medication is used to treat the physical craving, reduce withdrawal symptoms, and allow the individual to focus recovery. During this program, patients will learn about the challenges of addiction and how to positively restructure their life.

At October Road, we believe that the combination of medication, education, and therapy is the most effective method of treatment for those who are dependent on opioids. MAT services are provided by licensed clinicians and physicians who meet all state requirements for their respective positions. MAT is offered at both our Asheville and Charlotte locations.

MAT treatment services include:

  • Assessments
  • Group support
  • Individual therapy
  • Medication management
  • Educational lectures
  • Family programming
  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Case management

About Our Program

In early 2020, our Asheville location will transition to a comprehensive Opioid Treatment Program, where we will offer Methadone in addition to Suboxone, Subutex, and Vivitrol based on the patient’s clinical needs.

MAT programs must be taken seriously. Skipping Treatment or ignoring your therapist’s instructions can greatly interfere with your recovery. For this reason, patients participating in MAT are required to attend all treatment recommendations as well as 2 MAT groups per month. You will be asked to sign a contract before participating to confirm that you agree with these stipulations.

MAT groups are held Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm and Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 am.

This program is intended to last up to one year, instead of lifetime maintenance. The goal is to ensure patients are no longer physically dependent on opioids or medications to curb their cravings.
